Dental Assistant School

A dental assistant is the first person that someone comes in contact with at a dentists office. While they are not allowed to diagnose problems, they are usually as informed about dental information and about patients as are dentists. It is a great, growing career field with strong pay. There are now great opportunities to save on training. Dental assisting as a career is expected to grow at least 20% in the next few years. There are approximately two dental assistants working for each dentist and orthodontist. Depending on the position, you can focus more on the technical, dental aspects, or on everyday office and patient management. Dental assistants are usually highly satisfied with their work. Unlike medical assistants, the work is much more hands on, and the hours are much more manageable.

Dental assistant school can be done at several different types of schools. Some specific tech schools will train you specifically for a dental assistant position. Other programs, through colleges will give you a more broad based education as well. You can complete many of your courses over the internet and then only do your lab and specific dental assistant classes in person.

This is a great time to save on dental assistant training. Many states and the federal government offer grants and financing for technical healthcare training which includes dental assistant training. We recommend that you speak specifically to schools you may be interested in to see what they can offer in terms of free training programs.

As a dental assistant, you can guarantee that you will have a rewarding career for years in the future. While many females are involved in dental assisting, it is a great field for men as well.
